Earth´s Starry Sky
Sometimes more is less, you need to keep it simple, what is enough is never too little. So here you go, our starry sky without the connection lines. Still precisely laser-etched with the same model we used for our Star Constellation Spheres, just without the connection lines.
You can still find all 88 defined star constellations and the corresponding 5068 stars of our night sky visible to the naked eye, but they are harder to find.
In cooperation with the astronomer Dr. Dr. Susanne Hoffmann we have designed the connecting lines based on historical and modern sources, because the constellations were defined in 1933 only by their outer boundaries.
The corresponding stars can be found in star catalogs with many attributes such as brightness or distance to earth. This also gave us the idea of a card game in which you play with these and other attributes.
From all this information, data and illustrations we have created a booklet with anecdotes and maps of the constellations and we also designed a whole card game the "Startetz".
2D vs. 3D
In the 3D variant, we included the distances of the stars to earth.
In contrast to earth´s starry sky and the StarCon 2D, you can perceive the logarithmically scaled distances to the stars.
